Food for Abundant Health

Honey (feng mi in Chinese medicine) is a healthy way to sweeten your tea as well as improve your energy level. This herb tonifies the function of the stomach and spleen in digestion and it lubricates the intestines in cases of constipation. It is an anti-inflammatory and can therefore alleviate pain in joints. Honey also moistens the lungs in cases of dry cough to strengthen the lungs and relieve the cough.

Ginger (Sheng Jiang in Chinese medicine) is an excellent herb to use any time of the year and especially during cold and flu season. It is readily available at the local grocery store. This lightly spicy herb can be sliced thin and steeped in lightly boiled water to make a tea. On its own or with green tea it's delicious! You can even use it in cooking...chop some up and put in your chicken noodle soup. This great herb is used to treat colds and flu by helping to release the pathogen from the body (via sweating...so be careful and discontinue if you experience excessive sweating). It is also warming to the stomach to help stop vomiting and harmonize the stomach so it can process the good food you're taking in. It also strengthens the lungs to stop cough and dissolve phlegm.

Mindfulness for Abundant Health

Right now...this moment...is a good time to simply take a deep breath...in through the nose deep down into the belly then out through the mouth...slowly. Let all thoughts release out with the breath.

Do it again.

Now one more time! Ahhhhhh!

Repeat as needed throughout the day for a calming affect. Staying calm helps the body to continue releasing the natural chemicals and cells that keep our immune system strong and ready to fight off infection.
